This technical assistance under the World Bank’s Advisory Services and Analytics (ASA) program focuses on conducting a Country Safeguard Framework Assessment (CSFA) to evaluate Indonesia’s existing environmental and social safeguard systems. The objective is to assess their alignment with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and identify key gaps, strengths, and areas for capacity enhancement.
The assessment covers the legal and institutional structures governing land acquisition, resettlement, indigenous peoples, environmental management, and stakeholder engagement. It also provides policy recommendations and an implementation roadmap for harmonizing Indonesia’s safeguard framework with international standards, while strengthening national institutions’ ability to manage environmental and social risks in infrastructure and development projects.
By providing analytical insights and strategic guidance, this project supports Indonesia’s ongoing efforts toward sustainable, inclusive, and safeguard-compliant development governance under the World Bank’s partnership program.
