Individual Performance Indicator

IKI () is a performance measurement used to evaluate the extent to which an employee has fulfilled their duties and responsibilities within a specified period. Individual Performance Indicators are derived from the performance objectives of the organization and its respective work units, ensuring that each employee's achievements directly contribute to the organization's overall performance targets. Within the Indonesian Civil Service (ASN), the preparation of IKI is governed by Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Regulation (PermenPANRB) No. 6 of 2022 on ASN Performance Management, which integrates IKI with the Employee Performance Targets (SKP) through a performance dialogue between employees and their direct supervisors. Effective performance indicators generally follow the SMART principles—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—and assess aspects such as quantity, quality, timeliness, and cost according to the nature of the employee's duties.  The implementation of IKI begins with the preparation of a performance plan at the start of the evaluation period, during which employees and supervisors agree on performance objectives, indicators, and measurable targets. Throughout the performance cycle, continuous monitoring, coaching, and feedback are conducted to identify and address potential obstacles at an early stage. At the end of the evaluation period, employee performance is assessed by measuring the achievement of agreed targets while also considering work behavior. The evaluation results serve as the basis for determining performance allowances, competency development, career advancement, promotions, and coaching or improvement plans for employees whose performance does not yet meet expectations. By implementing IKI, performance evaluations become more objective, transparent, and measurable, while encouraging employees to understand how their individual contributions support the organization's strategic goals.
