ESIA Training Batch I

The ESIA Training Batch I was successfully conducted as a public training program from 26–29 February 2024, delivered through an online platform to accommodate participants from diverse locations. This program brought together 39 participants representing a wide range of organizations, including consulting firms, state-owned enterprises, and independent professionals. Among the participating institutions were SMEC Denka Indonesia, PT Inhutani I, PT Haskoning Indonesia, PT Hatfield Indonesia, PT SUCOFINDO, PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance (PT IIF), and PLN UIP JBB, reflecting a strong cross-sector interest in environmental and social governance practices.

The primary objective of this training was to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical understanding of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), a critical component in ensuring sustainable and responsible project development. Throughout the four-day program, participants were engaged in a series of expert-led sessions covering key ESIA principles, regulatory frameworks, risk identification, and mitigation strategies. The training also emphasized real-world application through case studies and interactive discussions, allowing participants to exchange insights and experiences from their respective fields.

A key strength of the program was the active participation and engagement demonstrated by attendees. The interactive format encouraged meaningful dialogue, enabling participants to deepen their understanding while also building professional connections across sectors. This collaborative learning environment contributed significantly to the overall effectiveness of the training.

Overall, ESIA Training Batch I was successfully completed, achieving its intended objectives of capacity building and knowledge enhancement. The program not only strengthened participants’ technical competencies in ESIA but also reinforced the importance of integrating environmental and social considerations into project planning and implementation processes.
